19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former coach Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional championship, took control to create a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
